about

I began writing this song after the Pulse nightclub shootings in 2016...it's written for anyone who has known deep sadness at some time in their life, and it's written to remind us all not to turn away from the suffering of others. Every one of us is human, no more and no less.

lyrics

What do you do...when there's no shoulder to cry on?
And where do you go...when there's no ground to lie on?

There's a heartbeat...there's a sunrise...somewhere.

The thing about meaning, is that it gives us such relief.
The thing about hatred; when you flip that beast over the underbelly is only made of grief.

There's a heartbeat...there's a sunrise...somewhere.

If I don't know your name, how can I call to you for help?
We both love something, we both love something, we both love something, I'm calling to you for help.

There's a heartbeat...there's a sunrise...somewhere.

My grandfather came across that big ocean, so afraid of what he left behind.
Now so many can't get across that same ocean...

There's a heartbeat...there's a sunrise...somewhere.
